The Sounds of the Banjo

image of piccolo banjo

The Piccolo Banjo is tuned one octave higher than a regular banjo.
It plays the obligato part in the Orchestra,
filling in the gaps, as well as widening the tonal range of songs that could be performed.
Carlos' Piccolo is a Weymann from the 1920's with a 5-inch body, calfskin head, and nylon strings.
